JAI Scrapbook Challenge #23 - Just Add Me

Hi Everyone,

As you can probably relate as a scrapbooker, we more times than not document most things but not very often ourselves. Our families (and other interested parties) whether they show an interest in the present, are going to be just as interested to know about you and they are the albums you have created. Plus I think it can be empowering to document aspects of ourselves too.

For example- do you still have some dreams you wish to act on or go to steps to bringing them into fruition.
There is a biblical scripture that says "write the vision and make it plain" Habakkuk 2:3

Documenting be in photo form or text, reminds us about things that are precious to us, perhaps even in  reflection it can encourage us or heal us as a result of processing an aspect of our life.

So this Just Add Ink Scrapbook Challenge came at a very timely point for me as I've just begun to embark on university studies. It has always been a desire for me to have gone on to senior studies and pursue my dreams- whilst in school it was one of two choices- a. to become a Home Economics teacher (I aced that subject at school - got a Dux award)  I enjoyed helping my fellow classmates catch up and finish their projects. I guess in lots of ways I've fullfilled aspects of that in being a paperarts teacher both in my own business prior as a scrapbook shop owner and now with Stampin Up, but also taught many of my friends patchwork/sewing etc.

The other equally of interest was nursing. I've always been curious about the steps taken to 'fix' something medically and share a geniune concern for people's wellbeing. (though in saying that I'm not one to reach for a pill or offer them to my kids as a quick fix, to something that can be solved in more natural or practical means as I believe there is a lot we can do in life to help ourselves)  Now 30 years ago I grew up in an environment where senior or tertiary education was not encouraged especially for females, seen as a waste of time if one is going to be a wife and mother !

So here I am 33 years later, raised and still raising the last of 5 children, now a grandmother and work the greater part of a week, I'm also adding tertiary study and making steps towards entering uni for Nursing! Never give up on your dreams, better still put it on paper!!!

Here is my take on the challenge

My layout is very much inspired by the sketch found here, I found it absolutely perfect for my subject choice and colours dare I say LOL!

I've used papers, washi tape and stickers from the Stampin Up DSP- This and That.
Some of the stamps are Gorgeous Grunge and Word Play.

So check out what the rest of the JAI team has done too by clicking on the badge below.

Be encouraged and have an awesome week,

Sympathy Cards

Hi Everyone,

Sympathy cards.............
No one wants an occasion to need one
No one wants to need to buy or  make one either
however its one of the simplest forms of offering condolences to one another.
Nothing can replace a loved one or take away the pain of your loss and time softens the impact, like a lot of situations in life one learns to live with the experience.

Sadly I had reason to attend a funeral of a littlie, a little boy just over 2 years old.
He was the great grandson of one of my closest friends, a family I've know for over 20 years.
And like a lot of us I guess I didn't have the right sort of cards made on standby.
As I made these cards for the respective family members it gave me time to think and pray for the families as well.

I made these cards using some card parts of the Simply Fabulous Simply Sent card kit

In the kit you get 4 of the green envelopes and 4 of the grey envelopes as well as 8 of the lazer cut card fronts with cut ribbon lengths and bling - see 1st photo

The stamps I used were

Crosses of Hope stamp set -

 Love and Sympathy Stamp set

I did a fair bit of  heat embossing using Silver  and white embossing powder, to make them that more special looking.

Hope this post helps you when you next turn to making cards of this nature.

Just Add Washi Tape- JAI #21 Scrapbooking Challenge

Hi Everyone, Time for another JAI Scrapbooking challenge for September.
This month we want you to

Just  Scrap with Washi

So what is washi? Washi is an acid free japanese tape that is all the rage in the scrapbooking industry at the moment and has been for some time but in my opinion is making a resurge.
They are a very adaptable and easy embellishment and adhesive for that matter to use.

Our JAI challenge for you is to actually use it on your scrapbooking LO or mini album or scrapbooking project.
Here is my take on the challenge. I'm finally making a step towards documenting this years STampin Up convention which was in Brisbane this time. Here is Day 1- booking in with my JAI pals (Just Add Ink- Design Team)  at the motel. I've used product from the stampin Up - This and That collection.

I guess its meant to be used as a 'smash album'- definition of 'Smash style' - "SMASH is the "unscrapbook" for people who don't have time or think they aren't creative". .
"  It's basically 'anything goes', a ecliptic collection of memories, random bits, date stamps, journaling jots, memorabilia pieces ie- business cards, movie ticket, bus ticket, photos - you name it. I also get the feeling that your suppose to put it down without being to fussy about straightness and order"

But I have to say, you can't take the straight out of me, I'm a 'got to have it organized ' sort of person, I don't tolerate mess, unless its gonna be cleaned soon, creative mess in the process is fine, but I don't cope with disorganized chaos, unless its an unplanned emergency life and death LOL! and you working to save a person's life. even then, there is some sense of direction in doing that.  Its just how I roll ;-)

Just Add Scrapbooking # 20- Just Add Digital

Hi Everyone,

Just Add Digital Scrapbooking

Now that could mean hybrid or full digital ..thats up to you! Hybrid is printing out elements of digital images, cutting it out and adhering onto your LO. If Pocket style pages is your cuppa tea, then printing out downloads of the pocket pages would be one way of giving us a hybrid digi LO.

Heres what I've come up with for this challenge, and by clicking on the badge below you can see what the rest of the  scrapbooking design team have come up with to inspire you.

I'm still in my very early days of playing with MDS, but it was fun to try, I'll probably always be a paper/glue girl, but its handy to know both ways if not combine both methods ie- Hybrid.

So please click on the above badge and have a play along too,

Have a great week
