Hi Everyone

What a great and busy month it has been in February firstly personally for me as we had a close friends wedding that I was photographer for but also as I write this post we are days away from our eldest daughter leaving the country for Ireland for the year and then who knows what, so exciting and emotional, rather distracting too I might add (for all the right reasons) from playing with paper of much lately.

We have 1 more month in which you can take advantage of the free gooodies to be had during SALEBRATION campaign and here is another layout (another for my mum's heritage album) to wet your mojo. Hi Everybody

Just a quick post to showcase another of the layouts I'm currently working with on these heritage photos, so loveeee these papers and Pagemaps has helped a great deal to not interupt the mojo flow.

I have been doing a bit of research at the moment of my mothers family history, thank god for google and the occasional 'find' on places like www. ancestry.com, but lets not talk about all the hours we're searching and finding nothing as well. The other thing too is that lots of the family have passed on and even my mum and aunties are all in they're 80's so time is of the essence to glean as much as I can before the opportunity passes forever.

This is one of the vital aspects for my reasons to scrapbook in the first place, we can all have those photos but if we don't have the stories they're value is understated forever. I have used August 2010 Pagemap (www.pagemaps.com) Without further ado' here is my latest additition.

Everyday Enchantment with Family Heritage

Hi Everyone,

Had the pleasure of getting together today with a few friends and had an enjoyable day of crafting together- for me that was scrapbooking.

At present I am enjoying working on some of my family's heritage photos- in this case from my mother's side of the family. I recently sat down with an Aunt and she let me scan several photos from her albums. These images are so precious because my mother hasn't had a lot to show from her childhood and people didn't just snap photos as we can do these days in which various forms of photography is more accessible to the majority.

As with my mum and her her surviving relatives, they are getting on in age (82 and 84 yrs) it is even more vital to record the information that goes with these photographs before its all too late- hence the reason I scrapbook in the first instance- to preserve our family memories and heritage!

I have used sketches too from PageMaps.

All these layouts have been put together using the DSP- Everyday Enchanted from the current

I find card examples of other demo's very helpful, as cards tend to do my head in rather than scrapbook layouts which I much rather prefer, so its good to share and contribute to the inspiration pool, but always appropriate to give credit too where due. Its that time of the month again- the 1st Monday of the month and time for a new challenge on Just Add Ink- in particular with our monthly scrapbook challenges -

Here is my take on this month's challenge-
Another for my family heritage album- on of my mum, Aunty and cousins. This photo would have been taken in the late 1950's. I have used some Stampin Up DSP- Spice Cake for my papers. I've also used a PageMaps sketch and layout inspired by a example in the PageMaps newsletter. (sorry don't recall the original artist)

Spice Chooks for Afternoon Tea

Hi Everyone,

As you'll probably get I've been having some awesome fun with these Stampin Up Designer Fabrics in particular this time- Spice Cake!

A lot of what I've created has been centred around a 'chook' theme, why- because I love chooks LOL!

And yes even though Stampin Up does focus a lot of its products on Papercraft and Stamping etc, they are also starting to incorporate more fabric and coordinating product into their catalogues. I love this because besides my love for Photography and Scrapbooking- I have always adored sewing and patchwork. I hope in time more of the Bigz dies that are available in the USA will also come to Australia, making patchwork that much easier. So without further ado here goes-

Stampin Up currently has a new Summer Mini catalogue on the go (see pink catty pic on sidebar) and from the moment I saw these Fabrics and new DSP (Designer Series Paper) I knew I wanted to have a play with it and so I have. Some cards have been inspired by others and you will see credits accordingly.

and for something a bit tricky- It is an interlocking circle card. What that means is the circles on the front of the card actually "lock" the card and need to be "untwined" to open.

- a nice little arrangement to store some goodies for a pressie or Hostess gift.

Happy New Year to all my followers.

Hi there

as promised another quick add using the same DSP- Letters to Santa collection and elements, these photos were taken on this Christmas of our precious grandson who while colouring in, fell asleep under the tree- what a precious pressie just having him at home with us for this special holiday♥

and one more- a double capturing and recording my grandson's 3rd Christmas celebration so far, one that he might remember too. Please excuse the digital 'stitch' result that has caused some shading that isn't on the layout itself.

With a few days off and nearing an end I've had the urge to do some scrapping in particular Christmas.

Again some play with DSP- Letters to Santa and some of the Sticker Elements from the same collection. I've also used some of the nice glitter brads from both-In colour 2011 & Glimmer Basics (Neutrals)

Here comes Christmas!

I've recently had to prepare some inspiration for a Christmas Workshop. I decided to have a bit of a play with the DSP- Letters to Santa. Quiet a few of my cards are CASES from other talented demos or inspired in ways by their design. I hope to do some layouts with these papers too in the near weeks, following Christmas.

Without further ado here goes-

this card top and below's design was inspired by here I decided to make the trees more dimensional!

I bit of a novelty card. I made a template for this one by sighting this here

Here is a swag banner that I made using the Perfect Pennants Bigz Die and DSP - Letters to Santa

To give myself a fold on the top of the Pennant shapes I cut the piece of cardstock a little larger, scored a fold of 1/2" and than ran some Dotto over the piece of cardstock before running it through the Perfect Pennant die. The Dotto adhesive is great because it can be gently rubbed off later with no damage.

Big Top Birthday

Just a little update of more play with this Bright and Happy DSP- Big Top Birthday.

Here are the arrange of papers- all double-sided -12 sheets of 6 double paged designs.

DSP- 122348

Coordinating colours are- Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Real Red, Peach Parfait, Whisper White and my fav- Tempting Turquoise. All these colours have matching cardstock available (BRIGHTS COLLECTION) and accessories available in a selection of those colours ie- ribbon, buttons, brads.

This Collection also has a matching Quick Accent set- 122368

These are 30cm square in real size each.

Following in the theme of my last card posted in previous entry (which was a CASE of Kirsty Brown's card)

Here is a layout using the DSP - Big Top Birthday papers. I've also used the Glimmer Bright Brads ( 121006) in the centre of my flowers. The sub-title is from this years current Hostess stamp set- Perfect Words- 122472

Hi Everyone

One of my favourite parts of SU events is doing our Make n Takes- after all the demo's and inspiration, one is much looking forward to playing with the products.

Though I'll be honest and say that the stamp set for this years regional was as far removed of being my taste as you could ever get, however I can see its potential.

We saw wonderful water-colouring ideas and how to's from Julia Quinn in her WOW presentation, I am convinced that 'water-colouring' best results are best done on 'water-colour' paper, for me anyways. Perhaps it is that I need a lot more practise yet at it on normal cardstock, because my colouring in still looks pretty 'child like'. Julie sure makes it look easy and I love what she achieves with the crayons, aqua pens or blender pens. So more practise for me yet, and the fun is in developing your skills hey!

By the time you read this post all 7 of SU Regional workshops will have taken place in Australia (and NZ) and we are free to upload our Make and Takes without spoiling any surprises for other state's Regional Attendees.

Already I'm inspired by what other demos have achieved making the same projects with different colour combinations.

In the meantime here are the Make n Take kits I have completed.

This is probably my fav of the Regional M n T's. I can plenty of potential projects that could be made from the concept of this construction. -"I'm Not A Lion Circus box" I didn't like my lion's mane after it was coloured in so I punched out a circle, scalloped the edges and distressed them a bit with my fingers, popped it up and I like the effect - a different creative direction as we often have said in the scrapbooking world rather than a 'mistake' LOL!

It carts 4 little mini cards- I love the bottom label effect- something new to try!

Another good idea of using the embossing folder- and having the spots reverse side and right side on the flags.

I can appreciate the design of this card-"Thinking Of You" and in no way meant to be disrespect to the designer but I didn't like the colour combo, so it made it a little hard to get into it.

Since making it I've seen some yummy alternatives- this one below by Tanya Bell

Here's the collection as well as a new card I've made for my 1st Team meeting. This card is a CASE from the lovely Kirsty Brown. I've made the card using new papers from DSP- Big Top Birthday and the red paper is from the BRIGHTS paper stack. Love the colour combo- Tempting Turquoise and Real Red. My objective of this card too was doing Pin Wheels. Stay tuned for some more projects featuring them!

Love this shabby chic project - butterflies cut from the DSP- Flirtatious papers also featuring the Delicate Dollies stamp.

One of the lovely staff members - Clare Martin gave an extensive presentation of the various forms and effects one can accomplish using the STAMPING WHEELS.

Friendly Connections- Brisbane SU Regional 2011

Hi Everyone,

Stampin Up Regionals and Conferences are always a good opportunity to bond as a team, catch up with buddies you already know and make new connections. Its wonderful to put names to faces and meet some of these gorgeous girsl whose work I have admired online! This event was my first Regional and also my first WOW presentation opportunity!

Brisbane Regional Continued...................

Ok Warning this is gonna be a heavily ladden photo post so I hope it downloads LOL!

If you're anything like me I need photos to jog my memory and keep it alive!

Here are some of the highlights for me. there was plenty of gorgeous work on display but I managed to capture some in between other 'bodies' doing the same LOL!

I've very intrigued by this little green number, love the lace and texture look of it and the nice wisteria one next to it I was lucky enough to get as a swap!

What a dainty and yummy colour combo! One of my fave stamp sets too!

I am fascinated by this card by Genelle Little, I was lucky enough to get it as a swap- the watercolouring is so professional it looks like its been printed, If I ever get to make my watercolouring look that good it will rock!

Lots of us demos were checking this out, the layering and vellum used as a top layer, very nice effect!

I have a soft spot for anything Beau Chateau, how cute is this!

You had me at TEAL!!!! Love the colour combo- Pool Party and Island Indigo and that gorgeous lacy stamp- Delicate Doilies, and butterfies- so all my faves!!!

I've never done this sort of sponging/masking (I assume thats how its done) but very clever, would love to see it done some time!

Love this card of Tina White's - one of her WOW presentation projects, wished I was taller for a better shot. Its got some shimmer on it too, just gorgeous!

I totally adore this other card of Tina White's (again part of her WOW presentation) all the texture but daintiness and the layering of that new stamp work - Kindness Matters- and its got Teal hues♥

A gorgeous album of Julia Quinn's part of her WOW presentation, it has lovely water colouring inside as well.

Love the posy idea, clever work with circles!

I think its a clever idea with the tiny tags punch used as a fence!

Beautiful colour combo and texture with the delicate lacy effect of the punch and die.

This layout of Julie Quinn's is outstanding (being a scrapbooker I was drawn to it very quickly) the texture and colouring in those leaves is fantastic! This was part of her WOW presentation.

I made 9 of these little guys (over it now LOL!) but they have photo highlights on Disc etc from our Melbourne conference. I've also included the Conference theme song printed out in the inside cover.

Hi Everyone

Well as I write this post, I have just come home from a weekend trip away with my delightful friend Janet Wallace, who is the 'hostess with the mostess' and is also a team member of mine!

Well I can report that I had an awesome day at Brisbane Regionals which I might add started very early for us. Not only was it my first Regional for Stampin Up but the first time I have

presented for them too. That being the case we had to be there early for the 'low down' of how things go and also work alongside staff in setting up and registering. I found this assisted my tummy full of nerves and I got to meet some other demo sisters right from the get go,

all delightful of course!

Once you had checked in, collected your name label and kit than you could begin your swapping. I enjoyed this process enough at my first Stampin Up Convention in May so I decided to make 50 swaps for this day. I'm happy to say that I was able to exchange all of them and came home with some delightful ideas as well. This tradition is also a nice way to put names to faces of the demos, whose work you may have been inspired by and chatted to online as well as make new friends.

The Presenters for the day went something like this- Aaron Scott- our Australia manager

opened the event and than the day was followed on by a series of other presenters- Clare Martin (staff ), Julie Quinn- Wow Presenter , Sophie Zadeh, (staff- Training Facilitator). I was first up after a 10 minute break (this gave us next 3 Wow presenters time to set up and the previous to clean up- very quick exchange LOL! ) So next up - Myself (Ruth Clarke)- Wow presenter; Kim Gavarra -Wow presenter combined with Aaron and Tina White- Wow Presenter. We than had a lunch break with was provided- very yummy and healthy!

The afternoon session kicked off with another presentation from Sophie, than Clare- we had a opportunity than to do our make and takes with our new stamp set and kits- yay!!!, than a Wow presentation by Kym Bryne, Amanda Maycock (staff) and finalized by our Australian manager- Aaron Scott. At this stage I can't share the content of the staff presentations because there is yet one last Regional to take place in Melbourne, which completes the state circuit and sure wets one's appetite for Canberra Conference next year!

Almost full to capacity Brisbane Regional settle into Make n Takes!

It was a big day, much more relaxing for me by lunch time having done my presentation, nervous as ever, stuffed up on the finale' - (as Murphy's Law would have it) and was relieved I had done a Story-book-step by step chart to make all steps clear. Here is my Wow presentation and some other examples.

Both Cards & 3 D wall-hanging using the Top Note Bigz die joined together displaying collective ideas on the Designer Frames.

I was demonstrating the many uses of the Duo- Designer Frames- in particular - Double Embossing, followed by different ways to use them. Gathering from the feedback I got it was well received despite the respective nerves and mistakes one make when speaking in front of a large, unfamiliar crowd LOL! And did you know that 'Dotto' can also be known as 'Ditto'- because you can stick it repeated amount of times LOL! (another hic up in the wording --yeah.......)

In saying all that even though it felt like I was jumping out of an aeroplane, I'd be happy to do it again (only better) if the opportunity ever presents itself. In the meantime back to speaking to my fine customers in smaller group situations :-)

Well my dear followers pretty well by the time you read this post I'm packing to go to a Regionals Stampin Up training day in Brisbane at the Brisbane Convention Centre.This will be my first ever Regionals (last year I was having my first launch as a new SU demo and it was a little earlier in the year) What is truly a exciting opportunity is that I have also been asked to be a WOW presenter at this my first Regional. I'm both excited and nervous, in equal measures. But have had postive feedback so far in the times where I shared my work both with customers and in the wonderful community of other STampin Up demonstrators. The expected attendance is about 300!!

I expect our setting will be much like this one ,only we won't be sitting down to eat but doing several 'Make n Takes', seeing plenty of Inspiring WOW demonstrations and helpful business sessions. Plus a great opportunity to catch up with other team member, familiar faces, new contacts and exchange swaps. There will also be lots of camera opportunities of the inspiring boards loaded with contributions of lovely work. On my return I shall upload some photos of my experience and images of my WOW presented projects, including my swaps and special gifts made for some friends.

Where have I been?

Where have I been you ask, long time since blog posts.

Well I've decided rather than start a new blog focused on my Stampin Up business I would continue with the one already set. There will be things added along the way as I learn my way around blogger (i'm more use to Typepad)

So what's been happening..........

Well I've been working my day job, looking after my family and enjoying the holiday stays of my grandson Logan. When I'm not doing all that I am having fun and been kept busy with my role as a Stampin Up demo.

I've always taken life as a "nothing tried, nothing gained" approach. I always tell myself to everything there is a season and if you have the passion for something enough (and it will do your life well in a healthy way) its worth exploring it, so it is with my Stampin Up journey.

I've never in all my years of scrapbooking (that dates back to 2002) considered myself a 'stamper' but in a search to acquire a spiral punch (popular among scrapbookers) my good matey Diana Osborne told me stampin Up sold one (now retired) so lead me to contacting a local demo, brought a catalogue, than decided to have a workshop, found out my wish list was looking like a toilet roll's worth instead- after attending a few workshops (3 in all) decided I'd prefer the discount (20%) and joined!!!

Upon joining I started out happy to be a 'hobby demo', but after a few months thought why not have a launch and see if anyone turns up, take it from there.

Happy to say (sept 18th 2010) 10 lovely ladies came, the workshop was a success, more bookings followed without any sales pressure (my customers often comment that because I don't pressure them but they capture the passion of what I do, does the job- Share what you Love, Love what you Do!!!)

I've been blessed to have more join my team along the way and have steadily progressed enjoying the support we give each other. That is another aspect I love about this craft, not only is it fun doing what we do but the social and support to each other is valuable beyond words♥

Hi Everyone

Here's to a lovely sunshine weekend, my fav season is approaching- Spring- I'm a definate Spring/sunshine sort of girl!

Well August is also my eldest daughter's birthday month, doesn't seem a year ago she was living in England and I did a 21st mini album for her (see my typepad blog for that - http://www.ruthclarke.typepad.com/) and here we are again- this year I brought her a special boxed set of all the Audrey Hepburn classics beautifully presented with all her exclusive fashion labels on postcards with the info when they were released and so on. I've always liken my daughter's style to this actress. She was totally rapted with the pressie and I made her this card as well.
The card had an added bit of excitement to it in that when you opened it the balloons popped up which came as an unexpected surprise and a big laugh- nice to get a reaction!

Here is another layout I've done with a new stamp set soon to be released - Artistic Etchings. I used some pics of my grandson who is now 18mths old already. the layout was inspired by one I saw on 2 peas one day by an artist Corinne74, I've given it a 'Ruthy' touch.

Well there goes another post from me, a quickie slipped in while my grandson is asleep :) Yes he gets to spend another weekend with his nan and aunties yay!!!

Hi Everyone to this gorgeous saturday we're having here in sunny Queensland, hope its just as good for you too.

Here is a little update featuring two layouts I've done in smaller format using Stampin Up Designer collection- Bella Bieu.

Awesome news is that the new Stampin Up catologue is soon to be released and purchases from it can be made as of September 1st. there is already some faves happening for me and the wish list could match a toilet roll LOL!

Well that's it sweet and short, little bits more regularly might be the keep to my blogging LOL!

Well I've finally done it - started a new blog over to blogger yay! For those who once followed my typepad blog here is the link- www.ruthclarke.typepad.com (otherwise known as "A Moment to Share") I've just figured its time to have a freebie instead of paying for it by the month other than that my other news is that last month I became a Stampin Up Independant Demonstrator and I'm enjoying familiarizing myself with my kit and new products. Okay I've called my blog - Crafty Chick (a bit cheeky hey :) ) because I don't limit myself these

days to just one craft past time as I had to more when I had larger design commitments, I have reconnected to my former craft past times, so being this is my personal blog, from time to time you may get to see my sewing, painting, photography as much as my papercraft aspect.

I have scrapped this year believe or not that is when work doesn't take the better part of my energies like a lot of us. I had my right hand operated on, was suppose to have both but for practicality had them done one at a time- would like to explore other solutions before considering doing the left side. But you can't keep a woman down long so here is some show n tell. I should mention that scrapping wise I decided to go 8 x 11 size from here on, thats not saying that pages from previous years will still have to be scrapped in 12" x 12" to finish them off. I will say this these size albums are very hard to acquire at least in variety, thankfully I have gotten my hands on some from Coral Coast which are termed as A4 in size- I have previously used these and they are of excellent quality.

The 1st db layout is of my SIL's surprise 50th I organized for her. there is 24 photos on that layout- smaller format doesn't mean you have to discount the amount of photos you need to tell the complete story.

The card was made for my mum who recently turned 80!

Here is another double. I have no idea why after joining the two sides they show up slightly different shades but this isn't the case in real life.

This was one of the first doubles I did and chose landscape before I realized that they couldn't displayed in that orientation as a double in the album- duh!!! Live and learn- you get the idea though.

well I'm thinking that is about enough for my first post on the new blog. Promise more to come.
